While Betsy and I may disagree on many things, this is one we we agree on. Having a non-"standard" genital is much less traumatic than going through repeated surgeries, especially given the  general need for privacy that we all expect when it comes to our genitals. A child's parent's response also is a major difference. You are the most important factor in your child's life, and as long as you maintain a confidence attitude toward her, and the way she looks, she will respond in like manner. When she reaches the age that you decide is old enough to participate in the decision, then it will be better for her, since she will know what's going on and will be a controlling part of it.
