I have cah and I don’t consider myself intersexed at all, I’m married with two kids. I have spoken on this board about my surgeries several times and it has always been when a parent has come looking for support for their decision and has been slammed by the same group of people. I don’t think the option of surgery will ever be taken away because the majority of good doctors believe it is in the best interest of the child and I would have to agree with that. When I look at my girls I can’t even imagine them living with a minature penis or deformed looking vaginas, kids aren’t stupid they know when something is wrong. Do u think they will grow up with the docs looking at their vaginas all thru their lives and think something isn’t wrong? The surgeries they do today isn’t the same procedures they performed 40 years ago, just as the knowledge of CAH isn’t the same.
