Anyone regrets NOT having surgery early?

Return to Page 4 Anyone regrets NOT having surgery early? Aug. 30th, 2004 5:38am
After hitting post/send, I realized I never addressed your question. For me, I would rather have had regrets over not having surgery than to have regrets that it was done to me without my input. Because I am so out with my story, I’m often often asked if I would have chosen surgery as an adult and that is a question I can’t answer because I have no comprehension of what it is like to have a clitoris, regardless of size. Had I grown up with my clit, I may have been mad about it but I think I may have felt better about having that choice given to me rather than had it taken away. These surgeries are not reversible...once they are done, they are done and over with for the most part. The core goal advocates are seeking is to let the person who owns the body (that is the person living in it because children are not chattel) decide what occurs to them. It’s really a matter of choice over ones own destiny and to ask if someone would rather have had surgery early is a little like asking a severely disabled person if they would have preferred to be aborted. betsy
