From a medical postion intersex is a description of a body part or a disorder of a body part like in your post but in articles and books to the general public it only causes confusion.

The disorder may be caused by a lack of cortisol from the adrenal gland (CAH) or other conditions. Does this make me identify as a person that is intersex? No. Women with CAH identify and are women because taking the cortisone corrects the metabolic lack of cortisol that is needed to suppress excessive androgens which caused the intersex characteristics or in my case it was called pseudo-hermaphroditism (pseudo means false) . Plus the point that is always missed is that cortisone is needed in times of physical stress. Also, only one in eight girls with CAH have ambiguous external genitals and we only have female chromosomes and female sex organs (no testes).
