I am all for stem cell research other than embryonic stem cells.  The adult cells have proven to have some affect.  The embryonic cells have not.  The government does fund research for adult stem cells and the private sector is free to study all else.  Until there is any proof that these particular cells have aided in a cure, I donít see why the government (or tax payers, rather) should fund it, especially since it is controversial.  No matter how much I want my child or someone else cured, this issue is not what I would base my vote on even when I am a personal advocate and it would make my life better.  Iíd rather look at the big picture and see what most of us need like general healthcare before I get down to a specific.  People have varying opinions on where life begins anyway and even though I am pro-choice, I am not into not jumping on a band wagon and forcing others to pay for what I would really love to have (a cure) especially when it isnít even proven to actually cure anyone.  Not saying who to vote for,  just saying I donít recommend being a "one issue" voter.

Differing opinion
