re: weight loss

My experience so far losing weight.....  When I was first diagnosed, I was 206 lbs. My heaviest was about 220 lbs.  That was this summer.  I lost about 10 lbs between June and November, but Iím not sure how, I wasnít doing anything special.  When I started trying seriously again this year (my new years resolution) I was about 213 lbs (I had gained 4 lbs over Christmas, which is what really scared me and got me to really focus on weight loss).  I had joined one of the local Curves facilities in November last year, but wasnít really dedicated to going.  Once the new year came about, I dug in and starting going regularily.  I bought their book and started on the diet for carbohydrate sensitive people.  The first couple of weeks were nasty with cravings for sugar etc (especially after coming down of a Christmas sugar high :) ).  But now they are not bad at all, maybe once or twice a week I will get a sweets craving, which is nothing compared to the 4 or 5 times a day before.  Iíve been on the diet for 3 weeks now, and Iím down to 203 lbs.  Most of that is probably water weight, but Iím happy with it and motivated to get slimmer.

I think, for me anyway, I was using LOCAH as an excuse for not losing weight.  Then taking the prednisone was also a convienent excuse too, since one of the side effects is weight gain.  Iím sure I will plateau, and maybe not lose as much as I really want to, but right now anything is better than how I felt packing on the pounds.  Ideally, Iíd like to get down to 160 lbs.

Iíd be interested in hearing about others and their weight gain/loss experiences.  My weight is definitely a struggle with me.

Jo
