Hi- I have been away due to the birth of our second boy w/ CAH. His name is Hank and he was born 3/30/99 at 8lbs. He was prediagnosed w/ CAH due to DNA testing from Dr. New at Cornell. Our Endo would not treat the baby until the blood tests confirmed the diagonsis. We started medication, cortef and florineff on Sat., no salt, the 3rd of April, his weight had dropped to 6 15. His wt remained at 6 15 for the week w/ every other day weight and electrolyte checks...elcetrolytes were fine until Friday the 9th, we increased florineff to two tablets on Friday and on Sat the electrolytes had gotten worse. We went to the hospital on Sat the 10th and got a sodium IV. The dr. ordered sodium to be added to formula at this point. Sat. at 10:00 PM the electrolytes were perfectly normal. Again tested this AM and the electrolytes were normal so they sent us home. We will return to Dr. tommorrow for a weight check and electrolytes. I thought I would avoid all of this trouble because we knew what we were dealing w/ this time. Iam very frustrated and upset. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas? I am also short on sleep which does not help an already stressful situation. Thank you-Martha
