Our daughter was 8 mos. when she had her "big" surgery. I don't know how your daughter looks but our daughter's surgery was pretty long (10 hrs....no lie!!!) She spent three nights at Children's Hospital in Boston. One of the nights was spent prepping her, making sure she got sufficient meds, fluids, what not...she did come home with a catheter in place and it stayed for one full week. She had a ton of stitches and was pretty sore looking. She had needed alot of internal restructuring which is why it so long. After about four days she was acting as if nothing happened. She had just begun walking holding onto chairs and tables so you can imagine the first fall was quite painful so were her first few BMs. All I can say is God Bless and my thoughts are with you. Nothing can prepare you for when they come for her for the surgery. Best of luck and let me know how it goes.
