Our daughter had her surgery at 5 years old. Let me tell you, it was worse for me than for her. I believe it depends on how extensive the surgery will be but with my 5 year old being very active it was hard to keep her still after the first 5 days and then some of her stitches ripped out (not very noticable). She healed beautifully and will hopefully not need any more surgeries.
