Re: Reliability of 17OHP testing

17OHP baffles me, also. My son, Connor, (whose 2nd birthday is today!!!) has had a 17OHP of 68, which the endo said was so low that his growth would be suppressed. Then it hovered around the 400's, then in Dec it jumped to 20,000. The endo said the adrenals were not suppressed and he put him on Dexamethasone for ten days. It dropped to 1478. Now he just had his endo check-up on the 12th and I'm waiting on those results. As far as the injections, I am an RN and give shots and start IV's every day. The one shot I had to give Connor was the most difficult one I've ever done. First, I cried, then gave the shot, and then cried some more. I just couldn't be "nurse" without being "Mommy". The best place for a baby is on the front of the thigh. We tell diabetics to practice sticking the needle in an orange to know how it feels to give a shot. Sounds crazy, but it works. Hope you never have to give it...
