Re: questions on sleep

Hi Chris. I have a 6 month old son with saltwasting CAH. He takes 1cc of cortef three times a day. Originally our endo said to give him his medicine at 7:30a.m. 3:30p.m. and at 11:30p.m. He was doing fine with that schedule but I was'nt. I hated getting up at 11:30pm to give him his last dose. It usually would wake him up and then I would spend the next half hour trying to get him back to sleep. I explained this to our endo and he said it was o.k. to give him his last dose at bedtime, which is about 8:30pm. I too have noticed that he gets an upset tummy if he takes his cortef on an empty stomache, especially if it is a stress dose. You might want to speak with your child's endo and see if it is o.k. to give the last dose with his last bottle of the evening. Hope this helps.
