When I was on dexamethasome at the start of my pregnancy, I had major sleep problems. Usually when I am pregnant, I could sleep for 9-10 hours and still be tired. On the dex though, I got 4-5 hours of sleep and then was wide awake all day. It wouldn't surprise me if the cortef is affecting your child's sleep.
