After COUNTLESS phone calls, COUNTLESS letters and help from all of you, here is what appeared in the Cleveland (OHIO) Plain Dealer today: (verbatim)....(the article started out about a local child who died from MCAD-Medium Chain Acyl CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency) State Health Department officials have already concluded that Ohio's labs can EASILY accomodate two new tests. If so, two new disorders probably would be added to the list of mandatory screens. Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, an endocrine disorder that can cause death or ambiguous genitalia and is treated with hormones (MY NOTE>>>>I'm not quite sure I agree with this description, certainly not the info I have forwarded to them, I wish AG was the only problem!) and Biotinidase, which can cause developmental problems if left untreated. State health officials have singled out these because they appear to be the most commonly identified disorders on the current list and they fall within the state's requirement that newborn screens include treatable disorders that cause disability if undiagnosed. The article goes on from there, but I at least feel as though I'm making Progess....THANKS!!!!Bonnie
