Hi everyone, just thought I'd let anyone who is familiar with my latest postings on my son who was diagnosed 10 yars ago with saltwasting CAH, know that his doctor has lowered his dosage of hydrocortisone down to two times instead of three. This is because I felt from what I've read about the overdosing of CAH patients that it can cause Cushings Syndrome. I hope that sounds right. May 20th we will be going to the hospital and at this time we are going to have our blood taken from us the parents and our son to redo another DNA test because the first one just didn't show my son to genetically have this conditon. So I asked what if it came back the same. The genetic counselor in New York had said that they probably would not come up with anything different, but who knows. Anyway if it comes back the same I guess we will have it redone again. And if that comes back with nothing different then we will most likely admit my son in the hospital to take him off the meds and see how he does. He seems to be doing fine so far with the lowering of the meds that was done just recently. But my son has always done well with ilnesses and such. I'm just wondering if there was anyone else who feels that their child may be overdosed? Because it is possible that your child may be able to take lesser doses especially if you see a very significant weight gain, reddenning of the face, and even acne. I guess it would depend on the kind of CAH, but if there is anyone with a concern like this please feel free to contact me. I believe that my sons meds should have been lowered a long time ago, but it's just been within the last 6 months or so that I have been vigorously researching this. No one ever, I mean no one(doctors)ever told me that overdosing of meds could cause Cushings Syndrome. I just can't believe the things I've had to find out on my own. Well anyway, again if anyone feels that they have similar concerns please contact me. I hope I've been somewhat of a help and not a pain. Thanks. HollyHolly
