Emla cream is a lidocaine cream that you can ask your doctor for a presciption for. We put it over the bend in teh arm and the top of the hand with a q-tip....then wrap the area in clear plaxtic wrap and tape it. All this is done one hour before the draw. It is good for another hour I believe. It is great and I am so glad someone from the internet I met told me about it.
