Re: Cortef Pill

I was about Four years old when my mom started giving me the pill form of cortef. I don't remember what dosage, but it doesn't matter, because it's different for each kid, but my doc at UC Davis (California) said that the pills come in 5mg and 10mg. Since my mom had prior experience with my two CAH infected brothers, she went to the hospital to determine whether the dosage was right or not. Usually as the child gets older, the dosage changes according to the growth and behavior of the child. But, you as a parent need to watch for the indications, such as signs for shock, and a sudden change in behavior. If it's shock, just pop a cortef under their tongue, or, inject them, then rush them to the emergency room ASAP. But, if they regurgitate the pill, then you have to inject them.
