We have also heard the term 'grow into the dose". but in our case, i recall the doctor saying the dose needed to be upped and hoped he would grow into it. I interpreted this to mean that she hoped that as he grew the same dose would suffice. As for the bone age, I don't see how the doctor is getting a full picture without it. My son got one at 13months of age. They have have done a second x-ray at the time just to be sure. We waited at the lab until it was developed to make sure the x-ray was a good one. It has taken me until this last year not to spend a whole lot of time worrying aobut growth. While he has gone down on the charts a bit, his bone ages say he is fine, the meds seem appropriate, and he is growing. Maybe not at the same pace as others, but he is growing. There is a little girl in his class about the same age and height as him. So, he is not way off...but he is between the 15%-25%. There is so much to balance...it is hard to know when to get really concerned!! I would be alittle more emphatic about the bone age so at least you have that info. Another perosn mentioned the puffy face. We're not talking cute cheeks puffy...but almost like jowels puffy. does that make sense??? Good luck and keep us posted!
