Re: Cortef Pill

Hi I don't know if this will help as I am in Australia and I suspect meds are perhaps different here, but anyway, my daughter is 8 weeks old and has been taking hydrocortisone in tablet form since she was 14 days old. I am guessing that cortef is hydrocortisone (can anyone confirm as Cortef gets mentioned a lot!) It comes here in 4mg tablets which are pre-scored for easy breaking (brand name Hysone, manufacturer Alphapharm). As she takes 2mg, 3 times daily we just break the tablet in two - fiddly but relatively easy. We then just crush it and mix with a little boiled water and syringe it into her mouth immediately before a feed (this ensures she is hungry and it disappears in no time). I hope this helps. Danielle
