Teenagers and CAH

My son is now 15 1/2 years old and has done very well with his CAH. He was diagosed at 10 days old and has been on his meds since. I wish there had been a web site when he was small as we felt that we were coping with this alone. I read that many kids are on low dose Cortef to let them grow normally, but my endo always had my son on a high dose until puberty then reduced his dose to let him grow at that time. He is 5'9" and is still growing. We have had relatively few problems over the years just the usual trips to the emergency room for vomiting. He does seem to dehydrate easily but plays sports and does fine. He knows when he needs more fluids and can be quite vocal about it to coaches, teachers etc. He goes to sleep away camp and we are getting ready for him to go to college in 3 years by making him more responsible for his meds. I only wish someone could tell me how to make him wear his Medical Alert necklace. It wasn't a problem until this year and he refuses to wear it. I would love to hear from families with teens or anyone else who has any questions.
