Andy, so sorry to hear about your son, but how remarkably well you handled the situation. I hope Connor is much improved now, and over whatever brought this episode on. I think you were absolutely right in overriding the nurse's instructions; after all, if you were away from medical care, you would have given the shot, anyway. If she had physically banned you from administering the shot, you could have just left the emergency room, gone outside, given the shot, then returned! Since my endo advised, after I told him I didn't know when the scales start to tip toward disaster, that he couldn't tell me at what point they did, either, I do think it is best to go with your gut instinct. However, if any other parents have stories of when, how, why and under what circumstances they had to give the shot, I would like to hear about them. I know that some of the parents addressed it under the "Adrenal Crisis" recognition posting, but real life stories are helpful, as well. I will keep Connor in my prayers.
