My son is 3 1/2 and I have never really sat down and explained CAH at all. Never given a name or anything. He takes his meds without question. In fact, tonight he was saying how he doesn't like the butterfly thing (to draw blood) and I told he=im we were going to have to go in a week or so to get tests. He said, Why? And I just said, so that we know you are taking the right amount of medicine. He said, okay. End of conversation. When did your children ask questions or did you explain things? I sort of thought I'd deal with it like the sex questions...answer the specific question as it comes and not go into too much at once. But he's never asked (and thankfully big sisiter has not asked the sex stuff yet either phew!). Big sister has asked why he takes meds and I told her, To make up for what his body does not make. without it, he could get very sick or even die. We mostly explored this so whe would not try his meds....that they were for only him and no one else.
