Prenatal dexamethasone treatment for CAH
6/23/99 7:25 PM
We have a 1-year old son with salt-wasting CAH and are planning to have more children. I have already met with an endocrinologist to discuss issues regarding CAH and pregnancy. I know that dexamethosone treatment is commenced immediately to prevent masculinization of the female genitalia if the fetus is a girl with CAH (until a CVS can determine the gender and CAH status of the fetus). Through this and reading I have done, I feel quite confident that this early treatment would be safe for both me and the fetus. However, I would be interested in hearing from any of you who have had the dexamethasone during pregnancy about your experience. Thanks, Andrea
