I started on the dex when I was 6 weeks along. The side effects are pretty annoying, but I felt it was worth it in the long run. I gained 30 pounds in the first 3 months. With my other 2 children, I only gained 26 pounds in each pregnancy. I have 1 CAH girl (non-salt wasting) and 1 non-CAH girl. Stretch marks are horrible. The dex kept me awake all night. I think I slept about 4 hours a day and I work full-time. I was never tired though. Had more energy than ever. I had a CVS (which was not even painful) and found out I was carrying a girl and then 2 weeks later found out that she is only a carrier, not affected. The unfortunate part is that they told me to just stop the dex. They didn't even wean me off it. For the next 1 1/2 months I was sick as a dog. Could barely eat. Lost about 13 pounds. The doctors didn't seem concerned, since the baby was still thriving. I am now in my 8th month, have only gained a total of 18 pounds, lost all the swelling, and look great (for being 8 months). Will keep you posted when the baby is born. She is due 8/16 but hopefully will come sooner, even the doctors say she is really big. Good luck. It was worth not having to go through surgery with another daughter (although my daughter took it very well at 5 years old).Beth
