When Kyle came home from the initial crisis, they put him on 5cc five times a day(it was a 3% solution put together at the pharmacy).......YUK! We couldnot get it in him. I was breastfeeding and all we knew to do was try to give it slowly. Didn't work. We were then re-admitted becasue the potassium was still very high and the endo wanted to play with the dosage until we got just right. It was then she suggested we stop breastfeeding for all feedings. So, she reduced the sodium to 3cc four times a day and I breastfed any other feedings. I think I was just too tired to fight anymore and just wanted my baby well. So, doing both worked well for us. We never had a problem getting the sodium in that way. He was a little guy andwas probably only drinking a few ounces at a time...so I am sure it was pretty salty, but he did not seem to mind. There are parents that I have read who used those supplementary feeding tubes. You breastfeed normally and slip the tube in the side and get the sodium in that way. I thought that sounded like a good option(but too late for me!)Debbi
