We had a 30% sodium chloride solution and we had to give about 8 cc everyday. They need about 2 grams of sodium every day and breast milk or formula don't have anywhere close to that amount. I used to make about 12 oz of forumula every morning and add the whole 8 cc to it. At 3 feedings I would give her a 4 oz bottle of formula and the rest of the time she was breast fed. She liked the salt in the formula just fine, but didn't seem to care much for salt added to expressed milk! To my adult tastes the salt made the formula much more palatable but made the milk taste bad. Of course I really think they just get used to routines. By the way our endo stopped the additional salt when she was about 18 months and just told us to have salt available at every meal and that she can control how much she really needs. I was so concerned for a whole month, but then realized that it is true, she can tell when her body craves salt.Minoo
