Ryan takes 1 tab of Florinef in the morning with his first 1/2 tab of Cortef. I'm still not sure about when they will stop the sodium cloride because he is an extreme salt-waster. We really salt his food to the point of seeing it on the food. And we salt everything, even cereal, ham, peanut butter sandwiches I mean everything. I'm trying to get him used to it so when we finally get rid of the supplement he will be used to it. As for explaining to my daughter... she is now 6, we explain that when Ryan was born something in his body was broken and to keep him healthy he needs to take alot of salt. We do not allow her any salt at all except what she gets in food. Both sides of my family have heart issues as do I already at 34 so I don't allow salt to be used in my house except for Ryan and guests. One other note however... regarding my heart issue... I have mitro valvue reguritation of 3 of my main valvues. What I have discovered about this is that there are 3 different causes of this one being an imbalance of aldosterone. Of course when I read about this I perked right up. There had been other recent postings about "does CAH cause other health problems" . Although there is no real proof that there is a connection I find it quite odd that I am obviously a carrier and aldosterone can be a contributor to this heart issue. My mother, who I get the defective gene from, also has mitro valvue prolapse, which can also be caused by an aldosterone imbalance. Just find it a bit interesting!Judy
