Re: When to double/triple cortef doses

Does your child take florinef? I assume so if he is a salt-waster. If so how much? Based on my assumption that he does the salt and potassium could be high because his florinef dose was off. As I understand it the florinef is to replace the aldosterone that our children should naturally produce. The aldosterone causes the kidneys to retain sodium and excreet potassium. In our children they do the reverse. The florinef is given to not only retain sodium but to allow the kidneys to excreet the potassium. If I understood you correctly your endo has advised that you should tripple the cortef dose every 4 hrs. Did I understand you correclty? Because our endo has us tripple the total daily dose divide by 3 and give at the normal intervals of 3 times a day.
