Thanks to those who responded with info. We have managed to get her presciption changed to the 250 mg solu-cortef act-o-vial with instructions on how much to give. (in my daughter's case it is .8 ml of the actual mixture) The 100 mg size was more for convience for my daughter. The full amount prepared was the right amount. Also the act-o-vial was important because my daughter (now 14 yrs old)is going off to camp for 10 days and she was recently trained at the hospital on how to inject it herself if she needed it. I really can't imagine that she would be able to do this herself if she had an adrenal crisis but the way I look at it is that information is a good thing. She has an emergency kit that is stored in a medic alert pouch. It contains her medic alert card, an extra madic alert bracelet, letter from the endo, info on how to recognize an adrenal crisis, 2 act-o-vials with 2 needles, alcohol swabs and instructions on how to use the act-o-vial. It also has some extra prednisone and florinef tablets. I always have a back-up of meds when we travel, especially after the one time we left her meds at my sister's. Also, on another occasion when she was very small, she slipped off her bracelet and left it behind. Someone asked about how and when to use it. I will confess that we have never to this point had to use it. We live 2 city blocks from a hospital and on the occasions that she needed it, I quickly had her there. We have had a bit of trouble at the hospital though --convincing them regarding the seriousness of CAH and on seeing the endo. I have learned over the years to be very assertive. Also, I must admit to being hyper-vigilant in monitoring my daughter when she begins to feel ill. We double the dose of prednisone when she has a fever of 101. Other times when her fever is lower than 101 or drops below normal and is associated with extreme lethargy and her hands and feet begin to feel cold, I immediately give her an extra prednisone. Anyway, my daughter is off to camp tomorrow and I must admit it is a bit scary. I've tried to prepare for emergencies if they arise. It is the best that I can do while still allowing her to lead a normal adolescent life. (as if there is such a thing as normal adolescence) Thanks again. PegPeg
