Just diagnosed

Hi all! I'm new to this site and to CAH ... About three weeks ago, my 19 month old daughter was diagnosed with CAH (non salt wasting) and she has an enlarged clitoris and a fused labia. Otherwise she is very active, happy and healthy little girl. I had never heard of CAH ...I'm still reeling over the shock of having a daughter with CAH and trying to understand CAH. Her doctors have recommended replacement treatment as well as clitoral reduction surgery. Can anyone tell me if this surgery is safe ... can she enjoy a normal sexual life? I know that children with CAH would have to double their doses of med to support them during the surgery ... is this sufficient? Are there any known cases of insufficient medication during surgery that led to a crisis condition? Are there cases of inflicted people dying during these kind of surgery?? I would like to hear your experiences and/or any words of wisdom that can reassure me about the next course of action that I am about to take.. Regards, Maheran (worried mum)
