Carriers do not have to take hydrocortisone. I am a carrier and only found out when my son was born with CAH (my husband is also a carrier). Carriers are normal as they have one good and one faulty chromosone, and you only need one for the adrenal gland to work. It sounds as if you daughter would have a mild form of CAH, or she wouldn't have been ill. If that is the case she will need the meds, but they shouldn't cause any problems as they will only be replacing what she would have made if the adrenal gland worked properly. I would insist on an explanation at your next appointment.Sallyann
