Sallyann, Thanks for writing. Your letter helped clear up things a bit for us. You said Hope must have a mild form of CAH or she wouldn't have been ill. Sad to say, I guess that makes sense because her clitoris was enlarged, though that's as far as it went--her labia are fine. If she was only a carrier everything would most likely have been normal externally. Since she's been on cortef we really haven't seen much of a change there. Is it supposed to decrease the size? We have a lot of questions. Our family Dr. referred us to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh when he noticed the enlargement at a routine checkup. What I can't understand is how neither he nor we noticed anything amiss all of this time--the first year of Hope's life. It's just all so strange. I know she has it very mild but still, when it's your child you hurt when anything is wrong with them. We go through periods of worry and even depression about it. Hope is extra special anyway to us--she was born 5 weeks early and yet is beatiful and normal in every way. We've had no problems at all until we found out about this. But it could be much worse and my heart goes out to those families who have it worse. By the way, we live in a little village called Reno in Pennsylvania in America. It's nice to make friends from Australia and elsewhere. Thanks for letting me "vent" my troubles. This message board is wonderful because one can find some hope on it from others in the same situation. God bless, Jim.
Jim
