Nicole There are pediatricians........ Then ....there are endocrinologists..... and then......there are pediatric endocrinologists...... My daughter’s pediatric endo is about a 2 hr drive from where we live.......the drive is well worth it. While we currently have a local pediatrician, we consider ourselves very fortunate that this ped has an excellent relationship with the ped endo. With previous ped’s this was not always the case. We have also dealt with local endo’s while my daughter was in hospital and I found that they were more inclined to administer cortisone as if my daughter was an adult (even when she was 8 yrs old). Most weren’t even familiar with “stacking” the cortisone in the evening. This can definitely impact on growth patterns in children. Anyway, there are definite differences in the way meds are dealt with in adults as apposed to growing children. I have found that the pediatric endo has a greater understanding of the situation than just the pediatrician or just the endocrinologists. Several others have wondereded if your child has had bone age scans. This is also important information to have when charting and predicting the growth. Take care.... Peg DPeg
