Re: Wondering about son's growth...

How frustrating, Nicole. We should not have to fight for treatment. But then again...at least we have a sense of what is reasonable care. That is, the same way parents get a sense of what a pediatrician should do by talking with friends....our community of friends is here. As for my son, who will be 4 in November.....we just had an appt with our ped endo. We have had bone ages done every year and she went ahead and gave me the document for his to get another in December. He stays in the 10th percentile, but his bone ages are within normal ranges. I think in his case, if he started to go up in the charts..that would be more distressing than being in the 10th percentile consistently. It is such a tightrope that our kids have to walk. Too much..you are short. Too little...you are short. The big picture is what they have to consider. It seems to me....the non-doctor I am....that if his testosterone levels were a bit high and his height was steadliy going up (50%..then 75th//then 80%...and so on)....that would be alarming. I don't know..... Our endo also asked me about whether or not I was a late-bloomer. I, in fact, had all the girly things happen later than my friends. He could very well be late also and get his big spurts later. He has the body style like the short men in my family, so....he's just might be a cute short guy. His non-cah sister has the body style like my husband's.....so, she'll have the long legs I dreamed of and we'll have the keep the boys at bay. So,....I guess beyond all the treament, etc. However they turn out...it matters how we present things to them. The fact that he is built like is "PaPa" is a source of pride and I know Kyle would love to be like him. Short or not.
