Re: Prenatal Treatment for CAH

I started on the prenatal treatment 7 weeks ago. We learned I'm carrying twins 4weeks ago. I have gained 7 lbs total so far and have not experienced any side effects as of yet. We are having an ammnio Sept.2. From what I understand of the treatment you really need to start treatment by the 6th week to get the full benefit of th etreatment as that is when genitalia start forming. You may still get some benefit starting later but if you have a girl with CAH she will still require surgery. There is still the risk of the need for surgery even starting as early as I did but it should not be as extensive. Our first daughter has required in total 15 hrs. of surgery as well as 3 cystoscopies. If I can answer any more questions please email back. Others have complained of terrible side effects. I may be lucky but after what we endured with our daughter I would have given anything not to have had to.
