Sorry to disagree with you (don't get mad). But emotional stress is not the cause. It is the time of day that can effect the reading. And it is why the OH-17 must be drawn between 7 and 8 am. because of the hormonal and medication effects in the body. Emotional stress does not cause CAH or Addison's children to need more medication. Only physical stress... fever or vomiting. Then without the stress dose (shot) they can go into an adrenal crisis... shock...and can die. But not from crying or having a traumun. If that was the case , my five year old, would be not be alive now. But alittle extra cortisol - won't hurt... and what the heck if you think that they are crying so much to be SO STRESSED OUT - go for it. I remember my mother telling me not to cry as a child (and I did not have CAH)... "stop crying or you will make yourself sick".... mom knows best!!Roberta
