Re: Dialation after surgery

I remember having to do the dilation...it was not a pleasant time. It must be difficult with your daughter being the age she is now. Does she do it herself or do you do it for her? My daughter was only about 2 years old when we had to do it. She put up a bit of a fuss because she didn't like it, but I guess it wasn't as bad as it could've been. She doesn't remember any of that stuff now. That was the only time we had to do dilation at home. Other than that she has had periodic exams under anesthesia, and dilation - if needed - was done at that time. She had her last exam, as well as some more minor reconstructive surgery, last year. She won't have to go back again until she's old enough to become sexually active. She's only 8 years old now (9 as of next month) so we've got nice little break for awhile. She had her major surgery back when she was 8 months old. Everything else since then had been either minor reconstructive or exams and dilations.
