Jodi - Since CAH severity varies from child to child, unfortunately, there is a lot of gray area. Even doctors disagree on 'classic vs non-classic' and 'late onset'. It comes down to lab results and physical manifestations. Maria New, MD at Cornell Univ. in NYC is a pioneer in this field. There are many parents on this board who take their children to her or her group. When our daughter suddenly emerged with some of the physical manifestations at age 3 1/2, we were overwhelmed. I spent months on the internet...doing a search under anything I could think of (cortisol, 17-hydroxyprogesterone...that's a good specific search!...adrenal glands, etc.) and then followed some links from there. I now have a 5-inch stack of info! Do a search under Maria New, MD...I have her number/e-mail SOMEWHERE in my papers! Sallyann already explain that it IS genetic....if Greg, indeed, has CAH, he was born with it. I don't remember reading anything concerning autism and CAH together. Then again, I wasn't looking for it...so I might have subconsciously passed right over it. Contact Maria New if you can....we are extremely happy with our ped endo or I would have called her, as well. Please keep us posted. KarenKaren
