Hi Barbara, I have a 12 month old son, diagnosed by UCSF at the age of 12 days. I credit them for saving his life. I can't say enough about them. Dr. Selna Kaplan, who is the head of the Pediatric Endocrine unit, knows her stuff. Anytime I need to get a hold of them, I can. I would travel 500 miles if I had to, to see her. My son also is seen every 3 months. I live in Sonoma County, so I do have to drive to San Francisco, but it is all worth it for me. I would not hesitate to take your son to UCSF, it would be a lot easier than fighting the insurance company and you won't be disappointed. And by the way, all of the Endo's there know their stuff.
