Our daughter was recently diagnosed with CAH. We took her to my husbabnd's endo (he is a type II diabetic) because at 13 and 9 months she hadn't started her period although she had other signs on puberty. Our oldest daughter was diagnosed with PCOS a few months ago and we thought perhaps our 13 year old had the same problem. They ruled out PCOS but said she had definite insulin resistance and tested further and then confirmed the CAH. We have an appt. to discuss it further with the endo this week. But right now I'm confused about a lot of things. I' wondering how the insulin resistance fits in. If it's caused by the CAH or another problem. I know it's associated with PCOS but unsure about CAH. She has very pronounced dark skin on the back of her neck and the endo said that was a definite sign of insulin resistance. And a blood test confirmed it. I'm also wondering if our oldest daughter may have CAH also. I've heard that PCOS can be caused by untreated CAH. Both girls have the same body type. Broad shoulders, small breasts and they carry their weight in their stomach. We also have a 19 year old son who seems perfectly healthy but I'm wondering if he should be tested. These are some of the many questions we want to discuss with the endo. But if anyone has any input???? Heather (the 13 yr. old) was put on .25 mg dexamethasone.Nancy
