I don't think it's common in the UK to have the checks done any more frequently than 3 months anyway. We had ours weekly to start with, then monthly and it's now 3-4 months (Christopher is 19 months). I can go and see someone if I think there's a problem, but we are doing well on this regime. We also do heel prick tests at home so that his blood levels can be checked (spots of blood onto cards that are then analysed).
