Re: Do children with CAH have suppressed immune systems?

Whether our kids have CAH or not, people on high doses of steroids can have a suppressed immune system. Our CAH children are supposed to be on doses of steroids that mimic as closely as possible what a normal person would produce. However, and I could be wrong, most endos try to err on the side of giving more rather than less, since it is not an exact science. So it would seem to me that if your CAH child were on a high dose of steroids, that would make them as susceptible as normal people for having suppressed immune systems. Please correct me if I am wrong, because I would love to get a straight answer on this-I have never been able to pin a doctor down to an answer. All I know is that when it came time for immunizations, we were giving inactive polio vaccines? If their immune systems were not suppressed, why would we need to ????!!!!
