Dear Yong Yan, I gave birth to a bautiful son on the 6th april 1999. He was very ill from birth, would not feed, always lathergic, did not put any wieght on but kept losing it. This went on for 3 weeks until he was rushed to hospital (days from death we were told) then they diagnosed saltwasting cah, so i know exactly how you feel. I cannot get used to the fact my baby will be ill forever. We have been very lucky and are seeing a good peidetric endocrinologist who is monitoring our son closly. In answer to your questions we have been told that if he has only slight cold (no fever just runny nose) that we carry on as normal, only if he has tempreture or infection do we double his normal dose of cortisol until he is well again. When first diagnosed we were giving meds 2 times eac day but i have read 3 times each day is better and the doctor agreed. I hope your daughter is now doing well, after diagnosis my son began putting weight on but is still only 14lbs (under weight for his age) but he is a wonderful baby a complete joy. I wish you and your family well, if you would like to contact me please do so. Donna Shaw England.
