I know this is a horrible thought and I don't mean to sound morbid... but have you ever thought about what could happen if you were ever involved in a car accident and neither one of you was able to speak for your child to tell what his needs were? That's what prompted me to go ahead and get one for my daughter when she was about 2 years old. I hated to think something could happen to her just because nobody understood what was wrong and I wasn't able to tell them.
