Dr. Debra Merke, Pediatric Endocrinology 301-496-0718, of the NIH, is conducting a two year research study to further evaluate a pilot treatment program, in boys ages two to thirteen years. You may contact her for a copy of the Clinical Research Study Materials. I spoke to her, and she sent me a copy of it, and review is up to the individual, as to whether they want their child to participate in it. It seems that she is addressing the problem of short stature, due to the imperfect (too low or too high) administration of hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone for children with 21-hydroxylase deficiency. If you are interested, I would urge you to contact her; she is located in Bethesda, Maryland, and she can better answer questions about the study. Or, check this message board; several parents with CAH children are involved.Jennifer
