Re: Question re a preemie with a positive CAH screen

Our identical twins sons were born 5.5 weeks early and were acutally diagnosed inutero. Our sons were immediatly put in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where they stayed for 17 days. They were of good size (5 lb 2oz and 4 lb 4oz) so it was just a matter of "tweeking" their meds. They took Cortef and Florinef by syringe. (Florinef was made with a cherry syrup in the hospital pharmacy.) I pumped breastmilk and added NaCl to every feeding in the beginning and as they grew, we cut back on the NaCl. The hospital staff took A LOT of labs --every 8 hours. My endo was perfectly honest in telling me that they are unsure of how preemies react to the meds so they always double checked EVERYTHING! We were scheduled to leave on day 12 when our little guy crashed and the "tweeking" began all over again. They are now 15 months old and doing well. If I could just keep up with them, things would be great! :) Please feel free to email me with any other questions.
