I come from a different school of thought on the SSI issue. I am teaching my child to think of himself as a normal child that has no limitations. I never want him to sell himself short by labeling himself as disabled. I am lucky, we have good insurance. My child's medical bills for his first year of life totaled $100,000. I understand that some families may have concerns financially, and I am not against families applying if there is a hardship. I spoke to many families who feel they should qualify regardless of their income. I question there motives.
