Re: Re: Emergency - 9 day old baby diagnosed with CAH

Debbi and Colleen, Thanks so much for your quick reply. Sadie is stable with her electrolytes and is retaining fluids, but she has changed formula 6X since 9/16/99 and still experiences projectile vomit vs. "spitting up" . The Endo is great and has requested any info from the net that I can provide. She knows more about CAH in this area and was very quick to begin treatment and tests...but Sadie has not responded to the "norms", as she still is not keeping formula down the way the doctor feels she should. Also, years ago I recall a co-worker that had a baby that could not keep formula down due to projecticle vomit and after one month they found an under formed stomach muscle that went into spasms and caused the vomit fits. Does anyone know about this, as it is not directly related to CAH as far as I know. I am so happy to have others to talk to about this issue and hope there is a group advocating to raise money as they do for diabetes, MS, Aids, etc. I learned through the net that 1 in 50 people are carriers of the recessive gene...doesn't this constitute a mandatory newborn birth screen in all states?? I have given info to my family and spread the word to co-workers to request screening. What else can we do? I hope someone has an answer for Sadie, as her levels are stable, but she just can't retain food. Thanks for everything!
Carla
