I began weaning my son from nursing when he was almost a year old. He too is not a big juice fan. I am actually happy about this because I (and his pediatrician) think kids drink way too much juice. It really isn't the best for them because it tends to spoil appetites and act as a diuretic. As I was weaning I just made sure my son had a sippy cup of ice water always near him. He really took to water and still drinks a fair amount. I don't think kids get bored with water, needing fluid other than water seems to be a learned behavior.
