I was on Dex therapy when carrying my second child. I was taking whatever the standard dose is-I don't remember the mg., but since it is a new therapy and most OB's are not used to using it for this purpose, my doctors had to consult with Dr. Pang in Chicago. She was very helpful and coordinated with my doctors to make sure I was being followed correctly. Unfortunately, I didn't start Dex until 10 or 11 weeks, because I did not know I was pregnant until late ( I had just had a child 2 months prior). My daughter was born with a moderate case of virilization and did require 2 surgeries. We knew that because I had started late, she would most likely have some level of virilization, however her 17OHP levels were much more controlled than my first born, a son with salt wasting CAH-with him I did not know he was affected until 10 days old.
