From what I have read in the research studies to the left of the message board, there have been some studies regarding children with CAH having high IQ's. If you look under the heading "Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man", then click on "21 hydroxylase deficiency" you will find a 1968 study by Lewis et al which stated that "intelligence is increased in the adrenogenital syndrome." However, it follows up with a 1975 study by McGuire and Omenn and a 1978 study by Wenzel et al that say "data does not find higher IQ's than expected from family backgrounds." These studies may be outdated, but I thought it was interesting that studies had been done at all. There must have been some reason to prompt them! Our 6 month old daughter with CAH has seemed very alert and aware since birth.Debbie
